MacBook Water Damage — Immediate Action Matters
What to do the moment liquid is spilled:
- Shut it down immediately: Force it off by holding down the power button.
- Unplug the charging cable: Cut off the flow of electricity completely.
- Turn it upside down: Let the liquid drain out.
- Do not attempt to switch the device on: Turning it on after it has dried can cause further damage.
- Bring it to the service centre: Hand it over to a professional service centre as soon as possible.

Water
The least damaging liquid. With prompt intervention the recovery rate is very high.
Tea / Coffee
Sugar and acid accelerate corrosion. Intervention within 24 hours is critical.
Cola / Fruit Juice
The liquids that cause corrosion the fastest. Immediate intervention is essential.
Alcohol
Medium to high risk depending on the sugar content.
Why Are Rice or a Hair Dryer Not a Solution?
The methods "put it in rice" or "dry it with a hairdryer" are harmful for a MacBook. Rice dust causes additional damage. A hairdryer may evaporate the liquid, but it does not remove the minerals. Professional ultrasonic cleaning is the only real solution.
