Component repair instead of motherboard replacement
When a fault occurs on an iMac logic board there are two ways forward: replacing the entire board, or finding and replacing the faulty component. Replacing the logic board in most cases results in a cost close to the current value of the device, and finding parts for older models is also becoming increasingly difficult. Component repair, on the other hand, means identifying the faulty integrated circuit, MOSFET or capacitor and renewing only that part. This method is both more economical and, because the rest of the board remains in factory condition, the result is permanent.
Typical symptoms caused by the motherboard
- It will not turn on at all, there is no light: A power line, standby voltage or main fuse fault.
- The fan spins but no picture appears: A start-up fault on the processor or graphics side.
- Artefacts and distorted colours on the screen: A classic GPU solder/chip fault. It is particularly common on some 27" models.
- Powers on, then shuts down shortly afterwards: Overheating protection or else a power regulator fault.
- USB or Thunderbolt ports are not working: A controller or fuse fault on the port line.
- There is no sound, the camera is not detected: The relevant controller IC or the supply line.

Our Promise of an Honest Assessment
Not every logic board can be repaired. If corrosion has formed over a wide area as a result of liquid contact, or if there is permanent damage on the processor side, the repair may not be economical. In such a case we say so openly and do not sell hope. We leave the decision to you.
