iMac SSD Upgrade and Fusion Drive Solution

Does your iMac keep you waiting for minutes while it starts up, or do applications open slowly? On iMacs with an HDD, the greatest gain in speed is achieved by switching to an SSD — the device runs like new.

Why Do iMacs Slow Down So Much Over Time?

A significant proportion of iMac models made before 2019 were sold with 5,400 rpm mechanical hard drives. These drives were slow even at the time of their release, and they are by a wide margin inadequate for today's macOS versions and applications. Even when the machine's processor and memory are still sufficient, the user experience collapses because the system waits on the drive during every operation. For this reason, migrating to an SSD is the single most effective measure on a slow iMac, and it usually makes a far greater difference than a processor or memory upgrade.

Fusion Drive Problem

On some iMac models Apple used the Fusion Drive arrangement, which presents a small SSD and a large HDD as a single drive. In this arrangement, if one of the two disks fails the system becomes completely unable to start, and because the data is spread across both disks, recovery also becomes more difficult. The typical symptoms of a Fusion Drive failure are as follows:

Geçiş Sürecimiz

1. Önce Verileriniz

İşleme başlamadan önce mevcut diskinizin durumu değerlendirilir. Disk arızalanmaya başladıysa öncelik hız değil, verilerinizin korunmasıdır.

2. Modelinize Uygun SSD

iMac'inizin modeline uyumlu SSD belirlenir ve temin edilir; size yalnızca uygun seçenekleri sunarız.

3. SSD Geçişi ve Kurulum

SSD geçişi atölyemizde yapılır, macOS installation tamamlanır ve tüm verileriniz yeni diske eksiksiz aktarılır.

4. Repurposing the Mechanical Drive

If the old HDD is sound, it can be left inside the device as secondary storage or handed over to you. We decide together which option suits your usage.

The Benefit of Switching to SSD

Fast Start-Up

A start-up that took minutes comes down to seconds.

Immediate Implementation

Programs open without delay and freezing comes to an end.

Silent Operation

Mechanical disk noise and vibration are eliminated.

Data Is Preserved

Your documents, your photographs and your applications are transferred to the new disk.

Frequently asked questions

If its processor and memory are adequate, then definitely yes. Switching to an SSD is the single largest performance increase that can be achieved on a slow iMac.
In most cases, yes. However, if the mechanical disk is making a clicking noise, switch the device off immediately and bring it in; continuing to use it reduces the chances of recovery.
This is possible on the majority of iMac models from 2009 to 2020. We will confirm this precisely from your serial number free of charge.
Usually 1-2 working days including the data transfer. The device is left to stand for a while so that the display adhesive tape can set.
