iMac Memory (RAM) Upgrade

Does your iMac stall when you open a few applications? On suitable models, a memory upgrade is the easiest and fastest increase in performance — but it cannot be done on every iMac.

On Which iMac Can the RAM Be Upgraded?

The answer to this question changes completely according to the model year, and if it is not known correctly, hopes are raised in vain. On most 27" iMac models there is a memory hatch at the rear that is accessible to the user; the modules are easily replaced. On the 21.5" models, however, there is no memory hatch, the screen has to be removed in order to upgrade, and in some variants after 2017 the memory is soldered to the logic board. On the 24" M1 and M3 iMac models, the memory is integrated into the same package as the processor and cannot be upgraded under any circumstances. If slowness is reported on these models, the solution is to be sought not in the memory but on the disk and software side.

When Is a RAM Upgrade Useful?

When it does not help: If the device runs with a mechanical hard disk, the real bottleneck is not the memory but the disk. In such a case, SSD migration is recommended first; adding memory on its own does not produce the expected difference. We measure which of the two will be of greater benefit to you and tell you.

Our Upgrade Process

1. İhtiyaç Değerlendirmesi

Kullanımınız dinlenir ve bellek yükseltmesinin cihazınızda gerçekten fark yaratıp yaratmayacağı değerlendirilir. Gereksiz yükseltme önermeyiz.

2. Modelinize Uygun Bellek

iMac modelleri yalnızca belirli bellek tiplerini kabul eder. Cihazınıza uyumlu modülü biz seçer ve temin ederiz; yanlış parça riskini size bırakmayız.

3. Montaj ve Test

Yükseltme atölyemizde yapılır, ardından cihaz testlerden geçirilir. Yeni belleğin sorunsuz çalıştığı doğrulanarak teslim edilir.

After the Upgrade

Smooth multitasking

Stuttering is reduced when many applications are open at the same time.

The Correct Module

Memory of the speed and type that suits your model is selected, so no incompatibility occurs.

Memory Test

A test is run after installation, so a faulty module is detected before handover.

Honest Guidance

If the actual bottleneck is the drive, we say so; we do not sell unnecessary upgrades.

Frequently asked questions

No. On Apple Silicon iMac models the memory is in the same package as the processor and cannot be upgraded. If these devices are slow, the cause is to be sought on the disk or software side.
On most 27" models there is a user-accessible memory hatch at the rear, so the work takes little time. On 21.5" models the display has to be removed.
It depends on how you use the device. Predominantly office and browser use creates very different requirements from video editing; we measure your current memory pressure and give you a recommendation.
Yes, if there is a memory bottleneck. However, if the device is running with a mechanical disk, the real difference comes from the transition to an SSD; we measure this and tell you which one takes priority.
